Overview

We are seeking experienced and safety-driven Captains to join our growing flight deck team based in Lusaka. The ideal candidate will be a disciplined, technically proficient aviator with sound judgment, leadership ability, and a passion for operational excellence. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Captain will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant conduct of all assigned flights in accordance with ZCAA, ICAO, and IATA regulations, as well as Alkebulan Airlines’ company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume overall command and responsibility for the safety and conduct of assigned flights.
  • Lead the flight crew, ensuring full adherence to company SOPs, operational standards, and safety procedures.
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight preparation, including route analysis, weather briefing, and performance calculations.
  • Make informed operational decisions to ensure safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
  • Coordinate with Flight Operations, Dispatch, Maintenance, and Ground Handling teams for effective flight execution.
  • Mentor and develop First Officers through professional guidance and in-flight supervision.
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation and post-flight reporting.
  • Participate in recurrent training, proficiency checks, and safety management initiatives.
  • Uphold Alkebulan Airlines’ core values of safety, integrity, teamwork, and excellence.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) issued or validated by the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority (ZCAA) or another ICAO-recognised authority.
  • Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum 4,000 hours total flying time, including:
    • At least 1,500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on multi-engine, turbine-powered aircraft.

    • At least 500 hours on type or similar regional jet/turboprop aircraft.

  • Current Instrument Rating and Crew Resource Management (CRM) certification.
  • English Language Proficiency – ICAO Level 5 or higher.
  • No history of accidents, incidents, or violations.

 

 

Core Competencies

  • Type Rating on Embraer ERJ-120/135/145 (preferred).
  • Previous command experience in regional or commercial airline operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing junior flight crew.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and in dynamic operational environments.
