Overview

Alkebulan Airlines is seeking an experienced and vigilant Senior Aviation Security (AVSEC) Officer to support the airline’s Corporate Security Department. The role is responsible for overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Alkebulan Airlines’ Aviation Security Programme (AVSEC) across its operations in Zambia and the region.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring full compliance with ICAO Annex 17, ZCAA regulations, and the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), while promoting a strong culture of safety, vigilance, and security awareness throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the airline’s Aviation Security Programme (AVSEC) in coordination with national and international authorities.
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all stations to ensure compliance with ZCAA and ICAO security requirements.
• Oversee passenger, baggage, and cargo security screening processes to ensure procedural integrity and efficiency.
• Investigate security incidents, breaches, and potential threats, and prepare detailed reports and recommendations.
• Develop and deliver AVSEC awareness and refresher training to staff and service providers.
• Liaise with airport authorities, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies on aviation security matters.
• Assist the Chief of Security in maintaining security manuals, policies, and documentation in line with regulatory updates.
• Respond to and manage security emergencies and irregular operations (IROPS) situations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to threat assessment, emergency preparedness, and crisis management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Security Management, Aviation, Criminology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in aviation security, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
• Completion of recognised AVSEC Training courses approved by ZCAA or another ICAO-recognised authority.
• Sound knowledge of ICAO Annex 17, ZCAA AVSEC Regulations, and IATA Security Manual (ISM) standards.
• Proven ability to manage operational security procedures and conduct investigations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office, security systems, and reporting tools).

Preferred Attributes

• Prior experience with an airline or airport security unit.
• Certification in AVSEC Quality Control, Instructor, or Screening Management (an advantage).
• High level of integrity, discipline, and confidentiality.
• Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions during emergencies.
